Best Dirty Martini in a while

The Bookhouse Pub.  That martini.  It was shaken so that there were tiny ice shards in the glass.  Yummy.  Their veggie burger, salad and vegetable plate are all amazing.  Very dark and lodge like.  It's usually crowded and seems to attract a lot of Hollywood types.  After living in LA I can spot the film crew a mile away.

1 Kept

This is been on my list for a while so I was excited to try it. Located on Peachtree Road by Peachtree Battle going north.  Parking was very easy in the back of the restaurant and they have their own lot, no valet.  Surprised at how big the restaurant was too.  Great lighting, great decor.  We had the Warm Kale Salad and the Steamed PI Mussels.  Both were phenomenal.  The salad had house made sausage, butternut squash, garlic confit and waldorf-style apples.  Mussels were with leeks, white wine broth, garlic, shallots, herb butter and grilled sourdough  So tasty!  We sat up at the bar and the bartenders were very easy on the eyes.  Not a requirement, but always nice.  Looking forward to going here again and I might get the exact same thing.

Poor Calvin’s

Went here for the first time recently.  Located downtown at 510 Piedmont Avenue.  I had the best lobster roll I have ever had hands down.  It was on a water chestnut bread that was sweet flaky and chewy.  It was accompanied by yummy curried Mac n cheese.  This was so good!  I gave a friend the recommendation and they had the lobster stir fry.  They said it was also phenomenal.

Grain

Grain is a great spot to meet in Midtown for an online date or even work happy hour. This spot is on West Peachtree but the address is on Spring Street.  Limited food menu but they do have a few tapas and some oysters as well.  Great ambiance with indie music piped in.

Hello World- Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade

This site is to celebrate food, drink, events here (Atlanta) and everywhere!  After living other places I truly appreciate the kindness, food, drink, people and sense of community Atlanta has to offer.  With so many movies and TV shows being filmed here now (Y’allywood!) Atlanta is in the spotlight.  One of the many great things about Atlanta (the “REAL” Atlanta inside the Perimeter) is the BeltLine.  Tomorrow they estimate about 20,000 people will walk along the BeltLine for 6th Annual Lantern Parade.  A unique magical experience.  People also hang out afterwards in the many bars and restaurants around The BeltLine in Old 4th Ward (O4W) and Inman Park.  Here are some pictures from last year.  See you tomorrow!

Poor Calvin's-Best Lobster Roll

Went here for the first time today for lunch.  I had the best lobster roll I have ever had hands down.  It was on a water chestnut bread that was sweet flaky and chewy.  It was accompanied by yummy curried Mac n cheese.  Very thoughtful, very tasty.  This was stellar.  It was paired with Sade and Duran Duran playing in the background as well.

Bao's at Ah-Ma’s Taiwanese Kitchen

Located In the Trader Joe's shopping center.  Had the Lu Rou Fan - rice with slow-cooked minced pork, black mushroom, egg & shallots $5.50 (yummy); Cup Sticky Rice - sticky/glutinous rice, dried baby shrimps, black mushroom (yummy) $5.50, the pork belly bao (super yummy) and the Dirty Bird Bao - fried chicken cutlet, daikon radish & carrot $4.50.  Chicken was not as good.  Maybe it was the cut I got.  Cute, small place with charm.  Will definitely be back for a bao!!  Would love to see more baos and salads too!
